Farhana Roshan

Country Coordinator - Canada

Farhana Roshan was born in Bangladesh and grew up across several countries — Myanmar, Bangladesh, and India — as her family fled the genocide faced by the Rohingya community during the 2012 wave of violence. She completed her secondary education in India and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, majoring in Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice (GRSJ).

Farhana is deeply passionate about advocating for justice for the Rohingya community and for all individuals who experience injustice and discrimination. She has worked with several non-profit organizations, including UNHCR, Save the Children, Ashoka, UNICEF, Tale of Humankind, and Pratyek.

As the Specialist in Women’s Leadership and Community Mobilization at RMCN, Farhana leads efforts to advance women’s empowerment and girls’ education within and beyond the Rohingya community.

She is both a Duolingo Scholar and a Fulbright Scholar at UBC, and a recipient of the Exemplary Award in recognition of her commitment to social justice and community development.

Expertise: Women’s leadership, youth engagement, social justice advocacy, community mobilization.
